Flowers are a special gift that let someone know you’re thinking of them. Not merely a visual treat but a gift for the senses, flowers can lift a room, adding both colour and fragrance. Flowers can suit many an occasion, with special bouquet options for events such as weddings and celebrations, as well as flowers to suit every birthday month. Whilst the option to send such a personal gift over a long distance or overseas may seem problematic, international flower delivery options are surprisingly simple and efficient.

To send a floral gift abroad, whether to Europe, America or even if you’re looking to send flowers to Australia, it really couldn’t be easier. From expressions of love, joy and happiness to expressions of support and sympathy, the potential to send flowers long distance has expanded with a growing delivery network that now reaches a vast number of countries.

Key to the success of this international delivery service is the consistently high standards offered to customers looking for both personalised gifts and accurate delivery times. Flowers are, of course, a personal gift and one that often taps into individual and favourite tastes. Choose to have your flowers delivered internationally and you lose none of the options to personalise your gift.

As many companies work with local florists, individual tastes are catered for in almost all cases. Flowers associated with local landscapes and cultures are easily available and each gift can be wrapped, packaged and addressed to individual specifications. From plain and understated gift wraps with a simple message card to silver and shiny packaging, ribbons and colourful tissue paper, a floral arrangement can be presented in a myriad of ways.

Because delivery times will depend on where you live and where your flowers are being sent, it is worth planning ahead. If you order in advance, taking into consideration time differences between countries, you can be sure your floral gift will arrive on the right day at the right time.

While the selection process is made simple, with a range of different blooms and arrangements to be found either in store or online, the practical issues are taken care of by florists and couriers. It is even possible to leave delivery instructions with your gift to ensure that it is left in an appropriate and safe spot if nobody is able to receive it.

With so many different delivery options, sending flowers abroad is now as simple as sending them locally and with so many beautiful flowers and plants to choose from, it’s the perfect way to to make someone smile.

This month I am working with a client that wants to create a space in her prize winning garden where she can sit in the sunshine, but be protected from the rain when it appears. Doesn’t sound so tricky so far, but while she wants the covering to be big enough to place a table, chairs and a fire pit, she does not want it to be a distraction.

With that said, this means no fabric awnings, as they could catch fire from the fire pit. Then there is the issue that and even in the most understated colour a canopy will not allow for her to feel the sunlight. Needing something transparent, and attractive led me to the glass veranda. As the advertisements say, they are both practical and stylish. In fact, the range of styles and finishes to choose from is a bit mind blowing. Thankfully, that is one decision best left up to her.

If you like this idea for your own garden here are some more specifics. They really good ones are custom made to your specifications, meaning they will suit your home perfectly. They are available to be compatible with zip screens and roof blinds, so no worries there. Most importantly, in my opinion, the option is yours between safety glass and triple wall polycarbonate. It’s been a while since I purchased one, and I must admit they look so good I wish I had space for my own.

I have a client who has been telling me about how they want a special, bespoke decoration in their garden. Not only must it be beautiful, but should be colourful, and on top of it all, be a space to go inside if the weather turns when they are entertaining. I showed them umpteen garden houses, but none were interesting enough, and all would have to be painted by an artist to get the look they are shooting for.

Then, last night it came to me just before I drifted off to sleep, a vardo (traditional Gypsy wagon) is the perfect answer to their thus far empty search. Of course I immediately popped out of bed and started doing some research into their history, pricing, and where I could find one for them. Turns out this is not a difficult thing to accomplish in the least. So, I gathered the information from the very first site, as it was extremely informative, in order to propose the solution to them. I have since done that, and they were beaming over the idea.

Now, I want to pass some of the new found knowledge I have on these highly decorative works of art. While we might think that the travellers built these themselves, more often than not they were commissioned by recently married couples. The handcraft took between six and twelve months, and were made by specialised coach builders. The materials used were woods of oak, elm, ash, pine, and walnut and great efforts were taken to adorn them in the proper fashion. The ornate patterns were both done through carving and paint (sometimes even goldleaf.

These caravans began to decline with the arrival of motorised vehicles, television, and films. These brought fewer people to large scale fairs and circuses. In addition, seasonal farming was less frequently available. By the 1950’s most specialists builders had passed on, and their skills were not taken up, or pursued by the upcoming generation. Luckily, there has been a revived interest in these caravans, and they are once again being built. One hell of an addition to a garden, if I might say so myself.

I was just reading an article in the newspaper written by a rather opinionated gent on the topic of the British and barbecuing. Apparently, he contends that while we might revere our gas barbecue out in the garden, we haven’t got a clue as to what to do with it. My recollection is that he said the Brits simply don’t “get” barbecues. In response to this allegation, let me begin to refute it by stating that he is obviously entitled to his opinion, but I politely disagree. Sure, he makes some good points regarding the fact that other countries are cooking up bbq that is closer to that of the original barbecuers, but why does that make it better. I say poppycock, that just makes it different.

Well, it is true that we might not be recognised for being barbecuing demons, but we sure are enjoying ourselves while we are out at our Weber BBQs. In my opinion, we certainly do “get” barbecues, and are not just squeaking by with what we produce. Nor are we just making the cut because we are frankly just happy to be doing something in the great outdoors instead of being trapped inside on another of our infamous dreary rain drenched of days.

Though we may not be spending eighteen hours in slow cooking an entire pig or following suit in using the smoke from mesquite or pecan wood as some other barbecuers might do, we are holding our own as far as I can see. In fact, I have come across plenty of friends who have expanded their culinary horizons with their grill in recent years, so I would point to that as evidence of our desire to improve. And if in fact, the smiling faces that I encounter as I pass a lovely sausage or burger over to my garden party guests are not enough proof that we are “getting” it right, then I can’t imagine what is a better gage. I say, “Keep Calm and Carry on” barbequing just as you are fellow Brits.

Maintaining your own garden can be an extremely relaxing experience, and it can also provide you with a number of specific joys. For example, depending on the type of space that you have and the specific sort of garden you want to grow, you may be able to stock your own home with particular vegetables or fruits. More commonly, people make the effort to equip their gardens with selections of herbs, as these are often easier to grow in smaller spaces, and can be surprisingly handy to have around. After all, as any cook knows, herbs can often be the keys to special flavours, meaning that you can never have too many around.

Somewhat less well known, however, is that foods that are strong in herbal flavours can be specifically paired with certain types of wine to enhance your enjoyment of both. As you probably know, wine and food directly impact each other during meals, and as your food’s flavour changes from herbal accompaniment, your wine pairings may also change. So, the next time you head to Marks & Spencer for a bottle or two of wine, consider the following advice, courtesy of herbcompanion.com, with regard to the herbs you’re using.

• Basil is an extremely popular herb that can be easy to grow, and which is used in a huge variety of dishes. Fortunately, it can also go with a huge variety of wines. Because this food impacts your foods without completely taking over the tastes, pairing basil is generally more about the overall dish. Overall, however, you needn’t worry too much about wines to accompany your basil – anything from a Chardonnay or Pinot Grigio to a Cabernet Savignon or Merlot could be acceptable.

• Cilantro is another popular herb that can be a bit more effective in changing the overall taste of your dish, meaning that pairings can be a bit more specific. Chenin Blancs and sparkling wines are recommended, as a lighter, crisper tasting wine can work very well with the unique and lively taste of cilantro. Additionally, cilantro is generally used with lighter dishes and white meats more frequently than heavy, dark meals, meaning that it is generally a good idea to stick with lighter, white wines.

• Oregano is another extremely popular herb that is easy to pair with a number of dishes. However, just as cilantro tends to accompany lighter, crisper foods, oregano tends to go more frequently with heavier meals and darker meats. Additionally, oregano can add a somewhat dry feeling to a meal, meaning that it is best to pair it with a deeper, red wine that can pleasantly counter its effect. Cabernet Sauvignons, Chiantis, and Merlots are among those wines recommended for many oregano accompanied dishes.

Now is the time of year that I like to address the association between first aid, and the health care services directory from Doctoralia with the garden. We are all preparing for a joyous reunion with our gardens, and marking the days off on our calendars till we can pull out the tools that we will use all spring and summer long to make our outdoor areas a haven.

Yet, the reality of the matter is that those very gardening implements that assist us in pruning, shaping, and planting the goodies we grow can be quite dangerous. So, you should always have a first aid kit on hand for those cuts, scrapes, and other minor injuries. You should never work in the garden without the knowledge of the fact that you have those supplies at the ready.

And while I don’t want to be Debbie downer, you need to plan beyond the first aid steps. Have resources in place that will connect you to health care when you need it. Perhaps, having been involved in gardening for so long I have seen more than my fair share of both small scale and large accidents occur out in the wide open. Without going into detail, I will say that for the first incident I was unprepared, and for the second I was equipped with Doctoralia. Get a plan in place now, the difference it can make could change how things play out dramatically.

Lots of work and dedication goes into keeping a veggie patch in growing order, as well as a flower garden. Both can require a gardener to lug around heavy materials such as soil, mulch and cuttings. Enter the trusty wheelbarrow, a true partner in the maintenance and development of any sizeable outdoor area. Though you might have formed quite a bond with your wheelbarrow, they can on occasion be difficult, like when they sway under the weight of what we have piled onto it, and even sometimes fall over due to the weight of the work.

Yet, we can make things easier for ourselves as we do our gardening, and for our much loved wheelbarrows. After all, we are the ones who ask them to lift and carry more than they would probably care to, and our navigational skills, and lack of physical strength are often contributors of the tipping, swerving wheelbarrow.

Nowhere is this more true than on garden steps, and luckily it can be amended when the occasion calls for such action. Just make a ramp with planks of wood, along with a chicken wire cover to create traction for the wheel. Be good to your wheelbarrow, it deserves it.

Renting an apartment or house in London for six months is usually more favourable to first timers who are still in the process of venturing into job and living possibilities in the place. Those who find the place suitable to their career and lifestyle, however, takes a major step and look for new homes for sale.

Then again, finding a house in different parts of UK should take major considerations. One should know the ins and outs of real property deals and investments in the country. Owning a permanent residence in a foreign country, after all, can be both daunting and intimidating for some.

Generally, these steps are followed by investors who are considering the purchase of brand new homes:

1. Check the location of the new property. It is imperative to decide on the place, depending on the kind of family the potential owners have. When the family includes small children, it is a must to choose a location with good schools nearby. It is also a good idea to check whether groceries, hospitals and recreational areas are accessible.

2. Consider the budget. Stick with what you can afford and look into the range of options. Note that the price of the property does not only depend on the size of the house or by the fluctuations in the real property market, but also on the location. New homes for sale located at the business districts (called prime areas) are often more expensive.

3. Have the home buyer’s loan pre-approved before checking on the new home sales. This way, investors can avoid hassles of selecting a house that is not within the range of their budget.

4. Get a real estate agent. Having represented by a realtor makes the process quicker and simpler. A good agent may as well get the investors a good deal and set the property’s price lower. Note that in selling a property in London and other parts of the UK, real estate agents charge 2.5% to 3% of the final sales price of the property. Some, however, are paid from the commission given by the builders.

Buying brand new homes in UK is covered by laws not known to many. It is then more recommended for immigrants to hire a lawyer who can survey the property and its supporting documents. The lawyer may also lay out clearer instructions when it comes to paying property tax in the country. Buying a luxury property in London, for example, entails payment of local taxes and possible stamp duty.

The following information should also considered before hunting the market down for new homes sales in UK:

- Potential real property owners need to pay at least twenty percent down payment of the price if property

- Contacting the local real estate calculator aids in comparing the costs of different properties in different parts of the country

- There are different factors that the new owners need to look into such as current interests, property taxes, tax savings, appreciation trends of investments, etc.

- Different type of properties and taxes (or other liabilities). The properties may include:

1. Traditional, multi-family residential complexes usually located in suburbs

2. Combination and integration of residential homes that can be used as office spaces

3. Neighbourhoods with mixed tenants including groceries, stores and other company offices

4. Single or multi-tenanted houses in prime lots.

A romantic garden requires a special touch, a master plan that encompasses all growing things enticing and delightful. Those spectacular plants that drape seductively over ceramic cherubs, and the soft delicate and enticing flowers that appear like they bloom for the viewers attention and no other reason are required. Yet, how do you get past the planning stages, and the voluminous list of greens that it will take to paint the picture? A grow station is the answer.

These growhouses are perfect for aiding you in nurturing some of the younger and more fragile plants for your garden. It can be conveniently placed near your home, and you can therefore tend your precious bunch by just popping outside the door. This will work exceptionally well for those who are mostly weekend gardeners, but recognise that some of their plants require more attention in between the weekends they’ve set aside to gardening.

Be sure to get ne of these plant houses that have side walls that you can raise and lower. This will allow you to maintain a certain temperature when necessary, and then lock them in an open position for ventilation when that is required. This will also make it easy for you to poke your watering can inside to give those plants the drink of water they long for.

Call up the furniture hire now because this June is going to bring packed garden parties everywhere. For this is the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, and that mere commoners means a four day bank holiday. And since the queen is hosting one humongous garden concert, it seems like the perfect time to tie in one of your own. In fact, we are being encouraged by the monarchy to gather together to celebrate. The goal being not just to toast the incredible legacy of the queen, but to spend some time together with our community having fun ourselves. This of course takes planning, and advanced bookings of outdoor tables and chairs is an absolute must if everyone is being prompted to revel out of doors.

One thing you won’t have to arrange is the entertainment. You see, a concert is planned to take place in the gardens of Buckingham Palace that will feature pop, classic and rock musicians from the UK. And that event will be televised, with attendees having won their tickets in a public ballot. That leaves the rest of us to host our own Jubilee garden party and to just pipe the audio from our televisions outside, set a tv up in the garden, or maybe even a projector against a screen. If you like the idea of bringing the television or screen outside you will definitely want to analyse what furniture you will need to support either of them. That is not something to leave until the last minute only to find you should have hired something for that too.
